The news that Chris Paul wants to be traded has brought about a number of rumors about a potential destination.
Maybe
he wants to think about this a little longer and see what is in store for
him in the future.
The Los Angeles Lakers cant always rule the Western Conference. In
my opinion, I think they only have two to three good years left in them
until they go downhill.
So, in about 18 months, the New Orleans Hornets could be the class of the
Western Conference. But they are going to have to be careful in what moves they make if they want that to happen.
First things first, they cant trade Chris Paul. They just cant. No matter what, dont trade Chris Paul.
Then, entering the 2011 free agency period, the Hornets can get rid of
Peja Stojakovic and his fat contract.
This will clear a lot of cap room, meaning New Orleans would have $47 million in cap space. The Hornets can get more space if David West is willing to opt out of his
contract.
With this, the Hornets can grab Denver Nuggets small forward Carmelo
Anthony.
It all fits, and I bet Anthony would be very intrigued to join
New Orleans and play with Chris Paul.
The big question is whether Anthony
signs an
extension with the Nuggets. If Anthony chooses not to re-sign with
Denver, all the things can fall in place for New Orleans.
But the Hornets are going to have to be very careful with what they do this season.
